Satsports and Holux have unveiled the All Sports GPS, an Android based GPS with the capability to use WiFi.

This makes it the first on the market based on Google’s mobile OS, and the first that allows for map and software updates without relying on the phone network nor being connected to a PC. And all for around £200-ish RRP.

It’s also rugged, has Bluetooth and allows for you to download apps from the Android Market to supplement the existing app suite that is included, including Satsport’s Satski. Their most recent version of Satski now features Facebook and Twitter integration, just in case you felt the need to update your status whilst on top of a mountain. As you do.

Users of OnLive can rejoice, as they’ve announced the free OnLive app for mobile phones and tablets. If you own an iOS or Android device that happens to be on their compatible list, you can play on your phone over Wi-Fi or your phone network.

Cue obligatory soundbite from their CEO Steve Perlman:

“Today marks a major milestone: OnLive is now delivering the latest, console-class, top-tier games — literally to your fingertips—on tablets and phones for instant, on-demand play anywhere, anytime. Through the free OnLive app, tablet and smartphone gamers can play top console and PC titles like Assassins Creed®: Revelations and L.A. Noire — one of the most highly acclaimed, graphically sophisticated games to date—with exclusive OnLive Cloud Touch controls or with the new mobile-compatible Universal OnLive Wireless Controller. Tablets and smartphones, the fastest-growing consumer product categories in history, are now capable of running the hottest, highest-end games. Gaming and mobile devices will never be the same.”

Usefully, anything bought for use on the phone app will work on the PC, Mac and OnLive Console versions. Just hope your data plan is big enough…

GlacialTech have announced two new cooling pads for laptops: The SnowPad N1 and the SnowPad H2. Both are USB powered and draw air away from the base to prevent overheating.

I’m sure you’ve read the rumblings from worried scientists whom claim that laptops can affect men in a fairly unsavoury way, although that has been shown to be nothing to worry about. Still, it’s an ideal gift for people that suddenly felt panicky after reading the initial news reports, or those with stupidly hot laptops that singe their thighs.

Still, not a bad idea if you use your laptop on a desk either.

PowerSkin has announced something they are calling the “Gaming Skin for iOS”, allowing for more gamplay time via an extra power source, protective cover and speakers.

I doubt that it will help if you have, I dunno, the Madden’s NFL app or Angry Birds…

“PowerSkin’s® new Gaming Skin for iOS allows users to fully immerse themselves in their personal gaming, whether it be crashing towers loudly in Angry Birds or rejoicing in the defeat of a crushed quarterback on Madden’s NFL app,” said David Becker, Executive Vice President of XPAL Power / PowerSkin®. “Who wants to carry around a separate case and charger when your Gaming Skin packs the power – and the punch – for you?”

…Oh, it does? Great. You can preorder it via Power-Skin.com and save $10 off the $99.99 price.

Proporta, thanks to their access to the Built for Blackberry programme, have shown off their latest creations. They include for the Bold 9900, Torch and some Curves.

I do have to say, they look pretty good.

Lynnette Prigmore, the head of product at Proporta, saved me writing a whole paragraph of filler by saying:

“With a solid customer base among business users, Proporta has recently seen a dramatic growth in products aimed at the fashion and youth markets, which creates an obvious synergy with BlackBerry. We are delighted to be accepted into the program and look forward to working much more closely with the prestigious Blackberry brand in the future. On a personal note it is also really exciting to be able to transfer our more unique designs to a wider range of devices. Something we think our customers will be really pleased about.”

Thanks Lynnette, for making my job easier…

You can find the handset covers available to buy over at Proporta’s website, and some images after the jump.

If you happen to be anywhere near Times Square (that place in New York) look up and you may see a 40 metre high Christmas Tree. Oh, and it’s 120 metres in the air.

Thanks to the combined efforts of TDK and Toshiba, the “Crossroads of the World” will have three displays “Christmasified” in 15 minute intervals and runs from now until the end of December, when it will be used for the New Year’s celebrations.

Not quite the level of the Coca-Cola trucks ad, but at least it’s an effort.

If you are a man and you need to get your high maintenance girlfriend/wife/mistress something for Christmas yet don’t know what to get the fashionista that adores her iPhone, why not look at Capulet’s line of iPhone Wristlets.

Educational Bit – A Wristlet is basically a small handbag with a strap attached to it designed to go around a wrist. Yes, I had to look that up.

Made from French and Italian leather, these mini-handbags are designed to fit around her iPhone 4s and can carry other random mysterious things that a lady carries around everyday.

And they cost as low as “only” £229.

I’ll stick to using my pockets, thanks…

Today sees the unveiling of the new Kinect-focused Xbox 360 Dashboard, allowing you to go all Minority Report on your TV. Without the gloves. And that’s cool and all, but that’s not the best part: The UK gets streaming movies.

LOVEFiLM (Think Netflix but run by Amazon and European) have announced that their instant service will allow for streaming to the 360, not just the PS3 and PCs as before. Then there’s the rest of the list, including the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, YouTube and Vodafone Portugal (?!) among others that will join the existing Sky offering.

I’m sure many people will be over the moon over the voice controls, the cloud storage for savegames and other extra stuff, but I’m just happy that I can now watch films on the TV without even having to leave the sofa for the DVD anymore…

Have you not been to YouTube in the last week? I’m sure like most of the internet, you must have your daily fix of cat videos, so you must have. If you haven’t, you may be confused by the new look to the front page. It’s probably hated by everyone online as “Change is Bad”, but hey, you haven’t seen it to be upset by all of it yet. Give the whole “Channels” and “Trends” thing a try, or if you’re too busy to go to Youtube to look, here’s an explanatory video:

Bottom Line: Expect easier access to those feline films…

BERG today has announced a cute Little Printer that will print you a mini news paper with your selection of news, peoples birthdays, meeting schedules, the most popular Facebook story or photo from your friends, even a daily Sudoku puzzle for you to do on the subway to work where there is no data coverage on your smartphone. To be launched in 2012, BERG has partnered with Arup, foursqaure, Google, the Guardian and Nike for content.

Video demo of the BERG Little Printer:

The blog post from Matt Webb making the announcement follows:

Hi. I’m Matt Webb from BERG, a design studio in London, UK. We specialise in product invention. Quick intro! With Bonnier, we were behind Mag+ (the first magazine platform for the iPad). And recently, with Warren Ellis and Matt Brooker, we published SVK, a comic printed in invisible ink.

For the past year we’ve been working on our new product — and we’re delighted and excited to be able to take the wraps off at last!

Today we’re announcing Little Printer.

Little Printer lives in your front room and scours the Web on your behalf, assembling the content you care about into designed deliveries a couple of times a day.

You configure Little Printer from your phone, and there’s some great content to choose from — it’s what Little Printer delivers that makes it really special. We have an incredible group of launch partners, and in the run-up to shipping we’re working with them all on custom publications.
