It’s that time again.
So… BR had those cagefighters in Swansea doing a public service (i.e. punching someone on the street whilst in dresses), TM got weirded out by the Dyson Fan Thing (Seriously, look at it! What the proverbial is going on there!?), and GT looked at Scribbenauts, among other things.

You know the story. Dell meets Laptop. Laptop loses weight. Dell photographs innocent laptop and uploads the sordid images to the internet. One we’ve heard many times before…
Since 9/9/09 (over a month ago), Dell has been teasing us all with these photos of a really thin laptop called the Adamo XPS. Their teaser website just has a request for your name and e-mail for further information when they decide to release it. The images above are the latest two released by Dell, and they tell nothing much, aside from “Damn, it’s thin!”. If only we had an image of the keyboard… or the screen… or the whole thing…
There has been many a time where I have wished for a way of searching Wikipedia when I’m away from a computer. Although I can use a mobile phone to do just that, there are people that either cannot or should not. And the WikiReader seems to be perfect for just that situation.
The WikiReader from Openmoko is a small monochrome unit that has 3 million articles from Wikipedia loaded onto it. Powered by 3 AAA batteries (powering it for a year), it has a touch screen for searching and checking links within articles to other items, with only 3 other face buttons including an ominous “random” one.
I have the feeling that the WikiReader would be perfect for kids in primary school. I don’t think kids in kindergarten should take laptops into school if they can help it, for fairly obvious reasons. But a cheap ($99) product like this is great.
James Dyson wasn’t happy enough with making the entire world go crazy for one of his vacuum cleaners. Oh no. Now he’s trying to reinvent the humble desk fan with one of his own design. The Dyson Air Multiplier. Namely one without the actual fan bit…
For reasons only engineers will fathom, this… thing… will suck in air through the stand, and blow out a constant horizontal column of air. There are no blades as it doesn’t need any to function, instead using a mechanism around the edge of the loop to pull air through and for that very same stream of air to pull in more whilst it travels.
It sounds like a great futuristic idea and I would love to see how effective it is, however the £199 ($316) price tag means I won’t see one in my living room just yet.
Along with his past accomplishments, this creation does confirm one thing: James Dyson is a warlock.

The Mintpad has been announced by Advanced MP3 Players. And by announced, it’s priced at £139 and is available for ordering via their UK website.
It’s a handheld personal media device (music, videos and photography) which also does the PDA-type tasks such as taking memos, scheduling and playing games when the boss is around. Despite it having a 4GB capacity, it’s expandable to a possible 20GB
If iPods aren’t your thing, using your phone for organization is tedious and the iPhone is too price-prohibitive, maybe the Mintpad will be your kind of thing…

Full Press Release After the Jump.
This week around the pile o’sites… TM concerned itself with being shot by evil laserbeams being fired from the skies, GT talked about GTAIV:TBOGT, and BR watched idiots being punched by stupidly strong people whilst game developers do their own rap videos.
We’re a dysfunctional family, can’t you tell?
